Athena’s mother Caroline was no less surprised than her husband, but she was immensely grateful her daughter left some part of her behind even after she herself was gone. It was a piece of her spirit lived on, in the physical form of the writing behind her mirror, which Caroline said they’d keep forever.

“It is a part of her we can keep in the house,” she explained, adding that just reading her words “felt like she was still here with us, she had such an incredible spirit.”
