Athena’s funeral was held on a bright, sunny day. It seems almost wrong for so tragic a funeral to take place on such a beautiful day, but thinking about it a little more, all the people who knew her agreed that it was only fitting for someone so bright as Athena to have this as her final send-off.
Her small coffin was carried into the local Gilroes Cemetery by a horse-drawn carriage, giving the whole thing a fairytale like ambiance. Mourners were clutching balloons – purple, naturally.
