After joining McLaren in 2010, Button had a string of issues that left him towards the back of the pack. In 2016, he announced he would be taking two years off but then took over for Fernando Alonso during the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix which all went terribly wrong. In November 2017, Button confirmed that he wouldn’t be coming back for the 2018 season after all.
