This British driver had to work hard to climb the ranks, as he didn’t have the funds behind him to build his career. He used his own money to move from kart racing to the Formula Ford series, then from Formula Three to Formula One. He was given his first shot at F1 racing by Lotus, back in 1980, and never looked back. As one of the greatest British drivers of all time, Mansell managed to win the F1 World Championship in 1991, swiftly followed by the CART Indy Car World Series in 1993. He became the only person to hold both titles simultaneously.
