Nomar Garciaparra led the American League with 209 hits. He tallied 122 runs, 98 RBI, 30 home runs, 44 doubles and 11 triples, hitting .306/.342/.534. He also had a 30-game winning streak, won a Silver Slugger Award and was the unanimous AL Rookie of the Year. It’s no wonder the Boston crowd fell in love with him quickly.
