After everything that had been going on in her life since the 1976 Olympics, it was not such a surprise when Nadia did not perform up to her normal standard when the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, Russia rolled around.

She did not do too horribly – she took home two silvers and two golds after all – but there were controversies surrounding how the Russians were scoring the event. When Nadia’s coach Karolyi went to complain, the Romanian government was embarrassed, so they made Karoly’s life difficult.
