Nadia’s first ever competition was when she was just seven years old at the Romanian National Junior Championship. However, her routine did not go as she had planned and finished in 13th place.

However, this disappointment only caused her to want to train harder, and the very next year Nadia placed first. After seeing such marked success as well as her tenacity to win, the Romanian government put her in a state run gymnastics school where she practiced for eight hours a day, seven days a week.
