[post_page_title]The State Diadem[/post_page_title]
This piece is traditionally only worn by monarchs when they open Parliament. the Queen wore it in 2002, but it has been in the family for almost 200 years. It was first created in 1820 for King George IV, the Queen’s uncle, and has been a part of the Royal Collection ever since. Unlike many other pieces of jewelry worn by the Queen, this one seems only fit for a monarch and nobody else. It will be up to Charles to make it look good when he sits on the throne.
