As for Meghan, she’s expected to follow exactly the same rules as her sister-in-law, just with the addition of one extra condition to meet. Whether she’s with Harry or not, the Duchess of Sussex is always expected to show respect to Kate in a way that doesn’t have to be reciprocated. The two women might share the same title, but they are by no means equal. Kate will always sit above Meghan because of William’s proximity to the throne, and nothing that Meghan does will ever change that.
