Although the Academy Awards were only in their 12th year, Gone with the Wind broke records when it came out. The film was nominated for 13 Oscar awards, winning a total of eight. Gone with the Wind is the longest movie to have ever been nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, running for three hours and 41 minutes.
