The two debuted for the Celtics in back-to-back years, 1979 and 1980 (Bird then McHale), winning their first title together during McHale’s rookie season. The two career-long Celtics would win two more championships in ’84 and ’86, would play in five Finals together and led the Celtics to the playoffs all 12 seasons they played together in Boston.
