Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was in his 11th season and 32-years-old when Magic Johnson joined the Lakers. The two would go on to dominate the game during the 1980s, leading the Lakers to eight NBA Finals in ten years, and five NBA Championships (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988). Johnson won three Finals MVP Awards while Abdul-Jabbar won one of his own. The duo would play together from 1979 to 1989, when Abdul-Jabbar retired and two years before Magic would step away from the game because of his HIV diagnosis.
