When the Bears’ Virginia McCaskey took over from her father, she decided to get rid of the cheerleaders, and didn’t renew their contracts after they expired in 1985. That year was a good season for Chicago, who won the Super Bowl, but once the cheerleaders were out, so was their luck. They would appear in another Super Bowl, in 2006, but haven’t won one since.
