Santana, realizing he wasn’t going to make it in time, didn’t even attempt to slide into second. Enter Jim Wolf, the second base umpire. Wolf ruled Santana safe at second even though he was several feet off the bag. The Reds could argue all they wanted, and they did, but this decision wasn’t being reversed.
