Babe Didrikson excelled in more than one sport, and was even named AP Female Athlete of the Year six different times. The year she turned 40, Didrickson became the leading prize money winner on the LPGA. After her 40th she was also awarded her sixth Female Athlete of the Year title. Unfortunately, Didrikson lost a battle with cancer, and just a few years later she passed away in 1956, she was just 45 years old.
