David Wells may not look like an athlete, but don’t tell that to his arm. The 21 year veteran of the MLB pitched until he was 44 years old. Wells pitched a perfect game before he turned 40, but after his birthday continued to excel, starting in six postseason games. He played for four different teams after turning 40, the Yankees, Padres, Dodgers and Red Sox, and he was able to convince the latter to let him wear Babe Ruth’s (whom he idolized) number.
