The 43-year-old is in the midst of his 17th season in the MLB, a career that came after nearly a decade of playing in Japan. He is in his final season of his contract with the Miami Marlins, and has said in the past that he wants to play until he’s 50. This season he’s batting .222/.263/.296, but last season, as a 42-year-old, Ichiro became the 30th player in league history to join the 3,000 hit club. He’s tallied another 312 hits since he turned 40, and with half the season still to go can add to it as a 43-year-old.
