The legendary pitcher graced the mound until he was 46 years old, and he retired just a shortly after his 46th birthday. Johnson played for six different teams during his 22 seasons in the league. He played a full six seasons after turning 40, and even struck out 290 batters in 2004. At 40 years old, in May 2004, he became the oldest man to throw a perfect game. In 2005 and 2006 he won 17 games.
