[post_page_title]John Carney[/post_page_title]
The longtime kicker played 23 seasons and retired in 2010 when he was 46 years old. Carney played for four different teams after he turned 40, attempting 159 field goals and making 135 of them. He added another 224 extra points. He finished his career with the New Orleans Saints, who originally released him in 2009, but then re-signed him in 2010. With that new contract Carney became the oldest active player and the third-oldest player in the NFL’s history. But he was released again just a few weeks later.
