One of the few east coasters on this list, Leanne Smith began her skiing career up on the slopes of her native New Hampshire in the shadow of Mt. Washington. She first learned how to ski competitively at the first ever ski school set up in the United States – the Cranmore ski school, located close to her home. She then competed for the Mount Washington Valley Ski Team. She then skied on the University of New Hampshire Ski Team.
