Mikaela Shiffrin was born in the mountains of Vail, Colorado before she moved with her family to the small Appalachian town of Lyme, New Hampshire. Shiffrin began racing the moment that she was able to, and by the time she reached 15 years of age, she was already winning the Nor-Am Cup super combined race. She would go on to win her first ever gold in the 2013 World Championship which was held in Schladming, Austria.
