For those of you who have ever taken a mass media class, you’ll know all about the male gaze and the idea that it reduces females to objects. The term ‘the male gaze’ was first used by Laura Mulvey, but is has since been adapted and nuanced.
In 2004, photographer Bob Carlos Clarke put his own spin on the male gaze when he blatantly compared woman to objects side-by-side. Here, Bob shows the similarities between actress Rachel Weisz – dressed tightly in a latex onesie – to a container of dish soap.
