[post_page_title]Suffragette movement – 1913[/post_page_title]
Women in the early 20th century fought for the right to vote, and women called suffragettes campaigned heavily for the law to change. Emily Davison fought for the vote for a long time and sadly met her demise after stepping in front of King George V’s horse in protest.
She walked out onto the racecourse and into the path of the oncoming horse. Davison died from the injuries she sustained but the moment was seen as the turning point for suffragettes and by 1918 women were able to vote.
