[post_page_title]Little Rock Nine – 1957[/post_page_title]
This image captured the moment Elizabeth Eckford walked to school while being berated by an angry mob of white people. She, along with eight others would be the first African-American students to have classes in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Eckford and the others were prevented from entering the school by protesters. This image was circulated around the world’s press, much to the horror of many. President Eisenhower had to intervene to insist the young students be allowed to enter the school building.
