[post_page_title]Rosa Parks – 1955[/post_page_title]
Rosa Parks’ act of defiance in 1955 helped spark a civil rights movement. She would not give her seat to a white passenger in the colored section of the bus she was riding in Alabama.
For this perceived incident of civil disobedience Parks was arrested, and this inspired the black community to boycott the Montgomery bus service. She became a symbol of the civil rights movement and helped organize events with Martin Luther King Jr.
