[post_page_title]Afghan Girl – 1984[/post_page_title]
This photo graced the cover of National Geographic magazine in June 1985, and immediately hypnotized all who looked at it. The photograph was taken by Steve McCurry as he walked through a refugee camp in Pakistan, filled with Afghans who were escaping Russian occupation.
This photo enraptured photography critics so much, in fact, that they have compared it to the Mona Lisa. Steve came under fire, however, when more research was done about the woman, and they found out her particular circumstances. Nevertheless, you cannot deny the beauty of this young woman.
