This image captured the first and, so far, last time a nuclear weapon was used in the history of war. This bomb, which fell on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, was dropped by the United States after they gained the consent of the United Kingdom to do so.
This bomb took out 20,000 soldiers but at the cost of the lives of over 70,000 civilians. The image acts as a haunting reminder of the devastation nuclear weaponry can cause, and its use should be avoided at all costs.
